Yeah, ok, if I keep putting out these small, non-drone-y, items, I may have to create a new feed for them. But, I don’t produce a lot of content, and it may be fun to have random small things appear, little rocks in the stream.
And…I did it before, these little stepping stones between realities, I called them microcasts…but I had some weird rule that they had to be under, I don’t know, some absurdly small number of seconds, a handful. And one of them, an enhanced podcast, went nuts.
Oh, that was the other thing, microcasts were all going to be enhanced, but there’s a couple weird edge cases where a very short enhanced podcast with a bunch of hires graphics and chapters goes nuts with some podcast directories and aggregators.
Then Apple effectively doomed the format by removing the functionality from GarageBand. Probably for the better, if you’re going to do an enhanced podcast you might as well do a video. Which is what I’ve started doing…I’m getting better.
Anyway, here’s me losing my shit at this guy that started following me, across a vacant lot, middle of the night.

I’ve been planning on mentioning this for a while now.
For months, several months.
A long ago I bulk changed the format of my podcast tracks—to appease the many podcast aggregators that are mp3 only.
I didn’t realize archive.org used such aggressive settings with their auto-derive function. 🙁
Since then, I’ve been creating my own mp3, but there’s still a yuge majority of ill-converted tracks in my feed. I’ll have to edit them one at a time, like 30…five. Like having to look through the original files of thirty items, and updating the feed items accordingly. Most were originally broadcast as m4a, but not all, some were mp3 to begin with, so I can’t just bulk change all extensions.
Maybe there’s a WordPress log somewhere of the changes I made, hunting that down may be monotonous as well.
Not looking forward to it
Been avoiding it for months
The beginning and the end are worn.
Virtual instruments controlled by samples.
A G-man posing as a number station.
A preachy New Year’s reveler.
Ice calving from an iceberg.
A hammer strike.

You know, I have no idea what to call the artifacts of my work…oh, geez, pretentious much?
I have no idea what to call the audio I make. The genre it best marches is Drone…and even though it’s been around since the mid-twentieth century, few know of it.
And Drone has too many meanings
Radio controlled toys and flying death machines
Low ranked or oblivious worker
A musical form that played with note lengths and timing
An digital music genre that shapes overlapping waves
The sound of existence
Drone is the sound of the fabric of reality stretching to accommodate existence
It’s the self creating scofffold straining under the weight of being
That’s how I use the word Drone
This is a blog, so why don’t I blog any
Probably because all I’d have to say is I wish I were dead
Over and over and over again
I wish I were dead I wish I were dead
And who’d want to hear that
A preview track of an upcoming Dronecast.

Example of my Technique
Brusier.m4a is a field recording I made on a warm October morning between a dry cleaners and a restaurant. A downspout was producing a crazy discordant noise. I think it was ice from a freezing up A/C unit on the roof, but I’m not sure.
Kids and dogs wandered by wondering what the hell I was doing crouched down holding my phone up to the downspout.
The recording became
bibruser3_stems_OuiDecay-001 the rhythmic jangly stringy percussive cohesive backing layer of Junkie.
